DRX9000 and Back Pain

Bulging, ruptured or herniated discs can be the source of radiating neurological pain as well as back pain.  The DRX9000 and back pain tretament will be discussed.

Shooting pain can often times go down the back of your leg all the way to your toes.  Many times, a pinched nerve in the spine is the source of radiating pain.  There are herniated disk exercises you can perform for relief.  The relief may likely be limited though, especially if the case is advanced. Chances are it is if you’re feeling chronic symptoms and traditional therapy is not helping alleviate the pain.

DRX9000 and Back Pain Relief

Relief of lower back pain by using the DRX9000 has shown efficacy rate of up to 86% in one study. This study was measured by low back pain patients quantifying their satisfaction after receiving a series of 20 DRX9000 treatments.   Sciatica is the most famous of radiating discogenic pain.  Not to be confused with piriformis syndrome though where the radiating pain ENDS at the knee.  This neural impingement is from the lateral rotators of the pelvis pressing down on the sciatic nerve – this condition is known as a peripheral entrapment (like carpal tunnel syndrome, just in a different place).

What about low back aches?

Chronic back pain especially lower back pain (lumbar pain) is the main reason people seek out spinal decompression. The DRX9000 is designed for decompressing the spine and the IVD (intervertebral discs).  A condition such as stenosis (lateral stenosis and even central stenosis), a patient can experience some relief.  Being that the pain is irritating nerves the relief is possible, but if it’s due to scar tissue being built up in the central canal the results may be a little limited.

Chiropractic spinal decompression, namely the DRX9000 decompression table, is a great option for radiating pain as well as some forms of chronic lower back pain.  Imaging and a proper consult will be the sure way to identify if you’re a candidate or not.  Make sure the treatment is congruent for condition. Not all cases of low back pain can be alleviated with the DRX9000 spinal decompression machine. Compressive arthritic conditions, degenerative discs, facet arthrosis… these back pain cases could possibly all be helped by DRX9000 therapy.

DRX9000 Reviews

DRX9000 is a relatively new therapy. Professionals are still analyzing the data. What are the reviews available out there and are there testimonials for the treatments?  What professionals endorse spinal decompression with the DRX9000? Let’s review…

When one evaluates a non surgical therapy option, it’s a great way to approach care and treatment of a herniated or bulging disc prior to opting into surgery without the invasiveness, risk and recovery associated with back surgery.  Orthopedic doctors and physical therapists might have expertise from time to time with decompression – it’s just more commonly seen in a chiropractor office.  Dr. Terry Yochum, the modern imaging expert who is the author of some of the most popular radiological imaging books for medical schools appraises the effectiveness below on the and examines spinal decompression on the disc and shows visual evidence on MRI.

Depending on the case, the onset, the injury, a person may experience ‘back to normal’ results with the DRX9000.  JAMA, Pubmed, and other online journals have documented success and efficacy on the DRX9000.  Other sources may include the actual offices where the DRX is being used by doctors to treat spinal conditions.  (the testimonials have to come from somewhere :)

Some of the primary conditions treated with decompression include, radiculopathies like sciatica, numbness and tingling in the arms and hands, numb toes, numb feet and tingling in the lower extremity.  Accompanied with these symptoms a patient often is experiencing localized pain the spine.  The regions of the spine are typically the lordotic areas (a curve in the spine that bends backwards) like the cervical and lumbar spine.

Some reports of low back pain with sciatica online have reported 86% decreases in symptomotology.  If you see a ‘really high’ efficacy rate be sure to read a little closer to the method and statistics of the research.

When a review about the DRX9000 is in your hands and your reading it, read about the selection process, the methods, the conditions treated, controls vs variables etc. The short paragraph describing the research (on any topic) can be a little persuasive and skew the actual facts.  If you really want to know though the information is out there.

Check back for more DRX9000 reviews.

DRX9000 Spinal Decompression Therapy Costs

Spinal decompression therapy…Is it worth it?

A tale of two outcomes. Talk to the people who were in excruciating pain due to sciatica or from a herniated disc and they will tell you, “Darn straight, best money I’ve ever spent!”

Talk to the people who were ‘too far gone’ and the therapy didnt work and most of them will be unhappy, dissatisfied and have out-of-pocket expenses that didn’t get them anywhere. Of course, there will even be a few who then tout that the whole thing was a DRX9000 scam.

Some things to ponder…

What are the costs, not just money but quality of life, lost wages, path of aging etc., of NOT getting the treatment when you need it? Or worse yet…getting surgery instead and having the surgery not work? The recovery and rehab post-surgical is far more time consuming and potentially debilitating than post-DRX900 spinal decompression.

For example, if  a surgical procedure co-pay for a spinal fusion is only 10% on a $50,000 procedure, then your out-of-pocket costs would be $5,000 including a few weeks (or months) involving little activity, increase danger associated with infections and also the risk it might not work. On top of all that, you have follow up visits, therapy and possibly a future follow-up surgery.

Undergoing decompression therapy can work and has worked for many. It’s crucial for you to KNOW that you could be a candidate to begin with. Ask questions. Most of the time, it’s a chiropractor administering the therapy, but get second opinions- not from others who do not provide DRX9000 therapy but others who do. Be aware of Charlatan’s who chastise everyone who doesn’t do exactly what they do.

DRX9000 Costs and Payment Plans

Most DRX9000 decompression therapy treatment programs cost anywhere from $2,500 to $6,000. (Those estimations are for the spinal decompression therapy alone.) Many providers frequently include other modalities such as LASER therapy, chiropractic, oxygen therapy, electrical stimulation, disc nutritional protocols and physical rehabilitation or spinal core exercise, like Med-x Core Spinal Fitness.

From the skeptic’s viewpoint, it may appear that the provider is ‘stacking the deck’ by recommending a number of different chargeable services. I’m sure this the case in limited instances. Although, with most integrity based practitioners they’re trying to pull in “all the king’s horses and all the king’s men” to put Humpty back together again.

Resolving the symptoms of a herniated disc is a tough task.

Treatment programs are frequently about six weeks long and the amount of sessions is any where from 15 to 30. The price is obviously dependent upon the services delivered. Most providers offer a variety of financing or in office payment plans. There are also ‘health care credit lines’ available such as  Care Credit.

In the end, a patient has to weight the costs associated with the therapy and also accept the fact that there may a be a possibility that even with proactive care that non-surgical spinal decompression may not solve the problem. DRX9000 costs are relative and have many individual factors.

DRX9000 and Shoulder Pain

The right brachial plexus with its short branc...
Image via Wikipedia

Can decompression with the DRX9000 help with shoulder pain?  How about a big, fat, undeniable…maybe?

Decompression is designed to relieve the pressure on a spinal nerve root.  If the pressure source is from a cervical disc bulging on the nerve or collapsing (a slipped disc or ruptured disc), then the probability of decompression therapy helping you has just increased.

How do you know if this is the case though?

The discs dessicate over time and dehydrate.  This limits the relief you can get with decompression so a newer more acute case has a strong favorability to recover than a 15 year old constant problem.  The spine is surprisingly resilient though.  The spine often times has the ability to maintain its structure with only minor deformity.  The proper sequence in screening and diagnosis your condition will include a new patient evaluation.  The evaluation will confirm that it’s a neural impingement syndrome or pinched nerve.

Imaging will be ordered (initially X-ray) and from the x-ray the spinal specialist will take note of degenerative spinal segments.  If the segments are showing early evidence of degeneration and the disc is still well maintained then an MRI will also be ordered to get precise imaging of the vertebral disc.

The brachial plexus and it’s nerve roots stem from the cervical spine (neck).  If neural compromise is noted (C2-C7) then decompression just became a great non surgical option to help you.  Typically on the sagital image, the spinal canal will have a low signal where the cord is present which is indicative of neural impingement.  Your doctor can certainly show this to you.  (This will undoubtedly be stated in the accompanied imaging report as well).

If the disc pathology in your neck is the primary referral source to the pain in your shoulder then relieving the pressure on the disc should, in fact, relieve the shoulder pain. Therefore, spinal decompression therapy would be an appropriate treatment.

The DRX9000 wasn’t meant to ‘fix’ shoulder pain, but to decompress discs.

Inversion Table for Herniated Discs?

ever had that .........

Inversion Tables

An inversion table is exactly what it says.  It’s a table that hangs a patient upside down to an inverted position in an attempt to decompress the spine.  Hippocrates, the father of medicine, is known to have used roped and pulleys to relieve back pain as far back as 400 B.C. Here’s a link to show you what I’m talking about- spinal decompression inversion table.

Dr. Robert Martin during the 60’s was a secondary pioneer in axial decompression therapy with an inversion table to relieve pain and improve posture.  The use of inversion tables to relieve back pain has been debated from the 1970’s through most of the 1990’s.  Eventually the conclusion was that inversion tables rarely cause additional problems, and often times can offer relief.

The concept of inversion tables, especially as a home treatment, has been taken to new heights. Especially since the prevalence of low back pain is so high. With the aid of modern medical manufacturing and technology, the DRX 9000 is in a whole separate class than an inversion table. There is a spinal reflex to being inverted where the muscles in the spine actually contract leaving the spinal under a compressive load.  This reflex is overridden with DRX9000 spinal decompression therapy.  As soon as the spinal muscles respond to the decompressive force, the DRX 9000 diminishes the forces slightly to allow for the muscles to relax again- this feedback mechanism takes place 17 times per second during the entire back pain treatment.

DRX9000 vs. Inversion table

It’s this technology that simply separates decompression from inversion therapy.  Back pain, neck pain, numbness and tingling are often great indicators to possible pursue treatment via spinal decompression.  Not all patients with these symptoms, however, are candidates for decompression.  An extreme case of a dessicated disc is often a better candidate for surgery since the disc is too dehydrated to respond the treatment.  A partially hydrated disc may respond better since there is some elasticity left in the disc (which is actually a ligament).

A health care provider in physical medicine such as a chiropractor is often the primary source to go to for recommendations, especially if you are looking for non- surgical options. Different imaging may be ordered beginning with an X-ray and possibly and MRI, or CT (CAT SCAN). I guess you could think of the DRX900 as a 21st century herniated disc inversion table…. on second thought…nope-not an inversion table.

Lumbar Decompression Therapy for Herniated Discs

MRI Scan of Lumbar Disc Herniation
Image via Wikipedia

Lumbar decompression therapy is utilized for conditions causing lumbar pain such as lumbar spinal stenosis, lumbar disc injuries, degenerative disc disease, disc rupture and nerve root impingement can often be conditions treatable with the new technology available in the DRX 9000 spinal decompression table.

The concept of vertebral decompression isn’t a new idea; rather it’s a new technology.  Inversion tables have been used for decades and while idea is along the right path its efficacy is unrivaled by spinal decompression treatments.

DRX9000

The DRX9000 is an advanced therapeutic option used in chiropractic clinics across the USA.  Your chiropractor is likely going to be the health care professional that recommends decompression of the spine.  Orthopedic doctors and other health care clinics also offer this therapy as well, although less frequently.

If your doctor is suspicious of a herniated or bulging disc an MRI will likely be prescribed to note these possibilities.  Symptoms of a slipped disc include but aren’t limited to radiating pain, radiating numbness, tingling down the leg and spinal pain.  Increased severity of these symptoms can be exacerbated by coughing or sneezing which induces flexion of all the spinal muscles thus pinching nerves further.

Efficacy of lumbar spinal decompression can be noted on Pubmed, JAMA, and other peer reviewed databases.  Online DRX9000 reviews support the option of using alternative therapy in conjunction with axial decompression.  These therapies can include, IFC (interferential current), LASER (cold LASER), high powered class IV lasers, postural (McKenzie) exercises, and spinal supports, amongst others.

Disc Treatments

Overall, there are a few approaches to treatment for cervical herniated discs.  More invasive therapies include spinal surgery, more specifically a discectomy or spinal fusion.  Often before surgery is recommended a physician may recommend a spinal injection (nerve block) or cortisone shots.  The injection may be administered in the facet or the spinal nerve root depending on the specific symptoms the patient is having.

Lumbar decompression therapy is safe and can be extremely effective in the right applications.

Herniated Disc Treatment Using Spinal Decompression Therapy

So you have a herniated disc and now you’re wondering if spinal decompression is an option to help relieve your pain.

There are some things to consider with spinal decompression therapy options. Acute pain – Did the pain your experiencing come about acutely or has it been a chronic condition that is getting worse and worse? Does the pain radiate into an extremity (the shoulder, arm or leg)? Is it getting better or worse since the symptoms began?

Spinal decompression is a new technology that can help with neurogenic pain.  Neurogenic pain is literally translated as “Pain from a nerve.”  If the pain you experience is from a physical impingement of a spinal nerve then the likelihood of decompression therapy on a DRX9000 might be the option you’ve been looking for.

DRX9000 and Back Pain

Back pain relief from chronic conditions is possible through nonsurgical means. Sciatica, leg pain, numbness and tingling caused from herniated discs can be debilitating. Using DRX9000 spinal  decompression therapy there is a considerable efficacy in decreasing neurogenic sources of pain such as numbness, tingling, & radiating pain. A Japanese report using 50 patients with back pain reported a 76% level of satisfaction.

“Dr. Noriaki Yamamoto and others reported that 76% of patients were satisfied with the treatment they received using the DRX9000.” Of note, due to the fact that there are a fair amount of detractors of this therapy; this study was not sponsored by Axiom Worldwide, the manufacturer of the DRX9000 spinal decompression system. Now also keep in mind that when reviewing research, it is very easy to only see the type of research that one wants to see to support ones own opinions. Therefore one would venture to say that if another study was performed as close as possible as this one, it wouldn’t come out to exactly 76% satisfaction. Also keep in mind that ‘satisfaction’ is subjective and up to the individual patient in terms of how they feel. So although the majority of the medical and physical medicine information on this site is ‘pro spinal decompression,’ Read more

DRX9000 Spinal Decompression Scam

As with any new technology, such as DRX9000 spinal decompression, there is initial skepticism in it’s efficacy which may be labeled as a scam.

Often times the ‘scam’ is a buzz throughout a community of professionals who are at risk IF THE THERAPY WORKS.  For example, negative publicity might exist in a case where a surgeon who typically performs a $50,000 surgery gets wind of a new technology that might work better (for less money) which would inhibit or threaten income.  You might be quick to offer a negative opinion on such therapy as well… Read more
